September: When Spring Comes

With spring comes the new leaves, the blossoms from the peach, plum and apple trees. We are glad the cold winter days are over.

We have already planted our Daffodils, already blooming. The plum tree looks like a white Christmas tree, it looks like it could be our biggest harvest yet. I have never seen oh-so-many blossoms on that tree.

We have just harvested the carrots this past weekend, in the warm sun late Sunday afternoon. It was good, sitting on the edge of the “stoep”, my white winter legs baking in the sun, watching my parents work in the vegetable garden. To see the new leaves on the fig tree, and the the green ropes hanging from the young willow in the corner of the front yard.

Just to know that it is a new beginning. A fresh start.
